Do you struggle with visible veins on your legs that make you feel self-conscious? These could be spider veins, reticular veins, or varicose veins and they are more common than you think. In most cases, visible veins do not pose a health risk, but they should be evaluated if they are accompanied by any symptoms or if they are cosmetically displeasing. For most, the unsightly appearance is what drives individuals to have them treated.
MaVie's Vein Treatment
When it comes to spider veins, not all veins require the same treatment. Our aesthetic providers at MaVie, have a unique background and training in vein and vascular care. What does this mean for you? You can assure you are in the best of hands when it comes to vein treatment recommendations.
At MaVie Med Spa, we offer three different types of vein treatments – sclerotherapy, radiofrequency, and laser vein therapy.
Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive vein treatment mostly used for the smaller visible veins, like spider veins and reticular veins. A medication known as sclerosant is injected into the vein that is to be treated. The solution then disrupts the internal lumen of the vein until it collapses and eventually fades from view. It is important to note that sclerotherapy typically takes at least 2-3 sessions for optimal results and maintenance is commonly required once a year.
Your sclerotherapy procedure will take about 30 minutes to an hour at best, depending on the size of the area that needs to be treated. The treatment is very well tolerated without any significant discomfort. After treatment you will be required to wear compression for a short period of time and it is recommended that you avoid direct sunlight in order to avoid post treatment hyperpigmentation.
Another alternative for vein treatment is the use of micro-radiofrequency. This is a minimally invasive procedure that uses heat from radiofrequency for closure and collapsing of certain types of veins. Our aesthetic providers will help determine whether or not you are a candidate for radiofrequency of your spider veins. This treatment is considered to be minimally invasive, is well tolerated and you will be required to wear compression post treatment.
Laser Vein Therapy Treatment
The third modality used to target spider veins is the use of laser vein therapy. This involves the use of a highly-focused beam of light energy emitted directly over the vein desired to be treated. The heat from the light energy damages the vein, stimulating closure of the vein.
Laser vein therapy can be utilized with great results but is recommended for certain types of veins.
Our trained aesthetic providers will assess your veins to determine whether or not laser is the right treatment for you. This treatment is a minimally invasive procedure that is performed in-office with no downtime. You may be directed to wear compression stockings for a short period of time for the best results.
